A discussion about the differences and similarities between Japanese society and American society as experienced through Japanese literature, presented by Masahiro Yamamoto, Japan Outreach Initiative coordinator from the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix. This discussion will be focused on the Japanese novel called South of the Border, West of the Sun, written by Haruki Murakami and will look at how meaning can change through translation.
