Scottsdale Sister Cities Association is proud to present the 35th Annual Young Artists and Authors Showcase on display at Civic Center Library.
This is an international contest that encourages youth worldwide to express the Sister Cities International mission through original artwork and literature. Award winners from the Scottsdale Showcase will advance to the international competition.
This year’s theme is “Food Security In My Community.” Climate change has become an undeniably harsh reality in our lives, making the importance of raising awareness and taking action more essential every day. As temperatures rise, water patterns are disrupted, ecosystems are disturbed, cultures are affected, and energy resources are proven to be unsustainable for long-term use. These ongoing changes impact our local and global communities in every aspect, and the younger generations are the key to tackling this global reality.
Through this year’s theme, young artists and writers were invited to create written and visual art which highlighted the impact of climate change on food production and food consumption.
This exhibition is a collaboration between Scottsdale Sister Cities Association, Scottsdale Public Library, Scottsdale Artists’ School, and Scottsdale Unified School District.
