It was 50 years ago that Apollo 11, from July 16 to July 24, brought the first man on the surface of the moon, a mission of 8 days, 3 hours and 18 minutes.
Kevin Schindler will discuss how Arizona played a key role in preparing to send humans to the moon in the late 1960s/early 1970s. The Apollo astronauts themselves traveled to the Grand Canyon and volcanic fields around the state to learn geology and practice their lunar excursions, and much more.
