Experience a new perspective on art through these presentations and conversation series by Phoenix Art Museum Docents.
The Hudson River School of landscape painting marked the beginning of “American” art because it was the first art movement originating in the United States. Starting in 1825, it was the most popular form of art in America for nearly 50 years and it played a significant role in helping to establish our national identity.
The members of this group shared a deep love of nature, especially the landscapes of the northeastern United States, but they had vastly different personalities, artistic philosophies, and painting styles. This presentation will introduce you to five of these remarkable artists and their paintings, as well as their often-overlooked role in American history.
Presented by Master Docent Kathryn Heffernan.
